| Dave Sands and Steph and I went to see Spidey 3 last night. It was good. Not as good as 2. I haven't decided how it compares to the original yet. Although Bruce Campbell's role may be what puts it on top. Enjoyable, in any case.
Today was the last day of classes for the semester. That's pretty crazy. Another week and a half, and my junior year is done. College so far has gone much faster than high school. Which is somewhat lame, because college so far has been much better than high school. Meh.
Barnhart got a couple minutes of applause at the end of the lecture today. I'm going to miss that class. Fortunately, he owns my mornings next semester.
After history, Rana introduced me to the cheapest lunch at the Union: Bleacher Club halal hot dogs. Those Mohammedans sure know how to eat on a budget. My meal plan may be able to get me through another day or two on those.
I'm still a bit sick, and pretty tired. But Beerfest is tonight, so I have to stay awake. Got myself a bottle of Jameson, so I won't have to drink the beer that's on offer.
Oh man, Toby and Kaleb and I had Brass Monkey last night. Malt liquor and Sunny D. We felt so homeless, it was great. Tasted alright, too.
I've been riding Jamie's Razor scooter a lot lately. I wish I had one of them when I way a whippersnapper. At least I can have my fun now. I ripped my pants something fierce the other day. They got caught in the back wheel. I got to use my new sewing kit. Sweeeeeet.
So boooooooooored. | |

| Oh my Grindhouse!
"Get the Killdozer." | |

| I-Con was this weekend. Murph and Con came down. Good times. Ninja Turtles. Civilization. Oh yeah.
This week is going to suck pretty hard. So much work that I haven't done. I'm going to have to really focus this week. Focus isn't my strong suit. We'll see how that goes.
Today, David gave me a compliment that really meant a lot to me. "Alex, you always have the best produce."

| I guess it was semi-eventful.
Have you ever seen someone you used to really like, and start to speed up your walk so you can talk to them, then realize you really didn't want to talk to them after all? Yeah. Saw Miran today.
Yesterday was pretty awesome. I tested the hypothesis that hot cocoa and FDR jokes constitute an alternate route into the female heart. Preliminary results are positive. Everyone likes FDR jokes.
Hung out with James, Christine, Steph, and Joe Donato for a while. A fun group, to be sure. James told me he's recommended my LJ to some of his friends as reading material, so... if you're one of James' friends and I don't know you... hi.
After that and some kind of dinner somewhere (right, deli with Christine) I ran off to Sanger for the St. Patrick's Day revelry. Drinky, drinky, drinky, White Castle. Hurrah! Did Marta steal one of my pins, or am I misinterpreting that Facebook message?
Abandoning any remaining semblence of chronology here, I'll talk about Friday night. I had decided not to do the whole New Year's Resolution thing this year because I knew it was just going to be another one I didn't do. Or completely forgot. I've changed my mind, however. In part. As long as I pursue some kind of meaningless goal, rather than an attempt to make any real improvement in my life, I figure I stand a chance of success. With that in mind, my resolution is to watch every John Cusack movie this year. So on Friday night I watched Being John Malkovich and Sixteen Candles.
In one of the first scenes of Sixteen Candles there's a shot of Molly Ringwald from the shoulders up, very little evidence of clothing. At that precise moment, John Chau shows up outside my window, looking to be let in the side door. He knocks on the window, glances at my screen, and grins. So he's walking to the door thinking I'm watching porn. I'm walking to the door thinking I'm watching 80's teen movies. I open the door for him, he walks in and says "Yo Al, if you're watching movies like that you should shut the blinds." I just agreed.
Today I intended to work, but didn't. I played some Civilization.

| Yesterday was pretty interesting. Drew was here in the morning. That was cool. After my classes were all wrapped up, I went to an art gallery reception in the SAC with Steph. Reception = free food. On the way I saw Danielle, which is always cool. It was decided that we have to hang out again this semester. Anyway... the reception wound up being an event on Reparations sponsored by Malik. So I got the whole white guilt thing goin' on with my tortillas and salsa. Berta was there, too, and Elizabeth at the end. I talked to Romual for a bit... so I've got an appointment with El Presidente on Monday. On the way back from that, I ran into Dillon, with whom I tagged along to an LGBTA event with free pizza.. so I chilled with those crazy kids for a while. Free dinner from the Maliks and the LGBTA. Not bad for a straight white dude. After that I headed over to Tabler to watch Scarecrow Gone Wild with the Sanger people. What a movie that was. I mean, wow. Really. Finished off my rum. Hasan brought me back to Ammann. As soon as I got in, Kaleb, Karen, John, and Shameer came out to go to Kelly... so I accompanied, and got some Dibs. Good stuff. I've taken a really long time to write this... and I don't think I feel like continuing. There's other shit going on that I'm going to withhold comments on 'til it's all sorted out. EDIT: The forces of good triumph at the last moment. Sweet! | |

| Finally... proof. This is from Giancarlo's facebook. See, in his quotes section, he attributes something to Gbenga. With a G. Take that, Liz. *victory dance* Anyway... getting a lot of comics on BitTorrent at the moment, because I couldn't get a proper connection to any public hubs on DC++. It's slow as shit, and making everything else similarly slow. But at least I'm getting my comics, right? "I Am Downright Amazed At What I Can Destroy With Just A Hammer" sounds a lot different with only one speaker. Soon I'll have a real sound system again. Just about two weeks or so. Ummm... things go pretty well. Not particularly eventful, but that's okay. I saw Children of Men with Matt and Jamie the other day. It was good, but I think I missed parts of the beginning because I drifted in and out of sleep a few times. Either that or it jumped abruptly from scene to scene without properly introducing characters or situations. I find sleep more likely. Movietron was the night before, so the only rest I got was about an hour on top of a pool table. Read: not satisfying. Hey. | |

| Alright, where did I leave off? I guess right before I came home. So I have a week to cover. Uh… I missed the train I wanted to catch from Grand Central, so I chilled there for a couple hours. I got back into Pawling, stopped by Baklajava. Good news: Liz gave me a free drink. Bad news: Betsy sez I might not be able to get my job back for wintertime because she hired a lot of n00bs. So snowy season employment is going to be another concern for me. I went to Murph’s at some point that night. Played some Smash. That was… Wednesday? Yes. Thursday I don’t remember all that much of. I know I wound up at Matt’s place in the evening. Oh, shit, it was Thanksgiving. Alright, now I’m on the trolley. Pretty much went over to Ma’s as soon as I woke up. Twelve hours of sleep kicks ass. Then to Matt’s after dinner. Wii! Friday was also a Wii day. Matt, Kristen, and I went over to the Guida residence where we played quite a few hours of Wii Sports. Zach, Ross, and Darlene were there. Brian and Kat came later. Tim and Laura came quite a bit later. We all beat Kat at golf, which was awesome. Matt threw a Wiimote, and Kristen made some kind of fuss about cheating at tennis. FUN! Saturday, I played ultimate Frisbee with Con & Co, then went to Em’s house for jolly good times. Played Taboo and Scattergories with her, Taylor, Jake, and Jeremy. Then one last stop-off at the Murphaus. Other than the train ride, I don’t think I did anything worth mentioning on Sunday. I worked on Em’s Christmas present and Elizabeth’s sock puppet during the ride. Both of which still need finishing. Monday… back to schoolio. And workio. I forgot to bring something to read for work on Monday night, so I was bored out of my mind. Fortunately, Miran came in, so I had a bit of conversation for a little while. And I wrote her a limerick about the blue-blonde hair shift. Then… TENACIOUS D! I can’t even list everyone who went. It was a posse, let me tell you. Before the movie, David, Becca, Rob, Joe, Gilheany, and I went over to Wendy’s for food to bring in. Rob and Joe gave us all coupons for free frosties. Sweet. “You keep saying ‘Fraley’ and all I can think of is Fraggle Rock.” –Rob The movie kicked ass. D-style. And everyone who came with us was awesome. Did I do anything at all on Tuesday? Other than catch Elizabeth smoking… hehe. Well, Vahaub and Dave came to hang out for a little while. That was cool. And suddenly it was yesterday. Class, Press meeting, class. Other stuff. Stephanie and I went to the University Café and had a few drinks. We discovered that martinis taste like ass, and we had this liquor made by French monks. The bartender described its taste as “like the smell of damp, crushed pine needles.” The first sip was pretty good, but it kind of went downhill from there. It was a good time, though. Spent more than I probably should have, but less than I expected to. Isn’t it great when that happens? Seriously, though. Fuck martinis. Played a little Smash when I got back. Took a walk to 7-11 with Drew, Kaleb, and Karen. Charlotte IMed me, and I haven’t talked to her in a few months, so that was neat. I think that’s it. At some point in there, I started running again. Despite the fact that all my recent attempts at fitness programs have ended with injury, I’ve decided to give it another go. I wonder what I’ll break this time. Extended hours at the library start soon, which means at least one shift ending at 4 AM. Barbaric. | |

| -Concerning my US Congress test: I'm pretty sure no one else answered that question with "FLAVA FLAAAV!" -Concerning writing projects: I think Nastereen and Miran are in the same class. They're both writing about the Press. I'm not used to being on this side of an interview. -Concerning the devil's box: Our TV broke last week. It worked in thirty second intervals, occasionally in crazy widescreen. Today a new, bigger one appeared in the room. I can only assume Kaleb has worked some sort of black magic. -Concerning spooky people: I wish kids in black were more like migratory waterfowl so I could refer to their young as gothlings. -Concerning the dude across the hall: Dave Sands is now to be referred to as The Sandman. So it is proclaimed. -Concerning stupid pictures: The new issue of the Press should be out today. I shall savor these last moments in which the expectation of respect from others is at all possible. -Concerning New Jersey: It's an established fact that New Jersey was founded for the sole purpose of eventually being the setting of Kevin Smith movies. Now that Clerks II is out, it can safely remove itself from the Union. Probably watching Mallrats with Elizabeth tonight. -Concerning puppetry: Irv made a sock puppet of Andrew the other night during the editors meeting. More than anything else, this dissolved the tension in the room. Good work, Mr. Novoa. Check it out. -Concerning NaNoWriMo: I haven't written in three days. This is looking like a no-go. -Concerning decadence: Turducken this weekend. Twenty five confirmed guests so far. That's far more reasonable than I expected, considering the group had 71 members. Still, space will be a problem. Perhaps I can grab the Ammann lounge. -Concerning lack of space: If I had room in the title box, this would be called "A Number of Short Notes on a Variety of Subjects in No Particular Order -or- Do I Look Concerned? -or- I've Been Listening to Too Much Sufjan Stevens" -Concerning adventures in Whitman: I borrowed Joey's motorized wheelchair the other day. It is really hard to get out of a Roth suite in one of those things, let me tell you. And the sidewalk on the way to Kelly is bumpy as hell. -Concerning Jim Morrison: The End. | |

| Marian: My ass hurts. Me: Is that because it just got kicked by Batman? And this: ( Might as well )-Alex | |
